Intermunicipal development plan, a document that will guide the success outskirts of Drayton Valley and Brazeau County, was declared the first reading last week.

IDP, or growth management plan, was given first reading by Brazeau County to its May 31 meeting.

The final document was presented to both boards, after open houses and meetings for residents affected land were held in April and May.

Town of Drayton Valley Planning Headman Chandra Dyck told advisers of the new plan, which looks at what kind of development should take place where, will help reduce scheduling conflicts between the two municipalities.

"Everything is consistent," she said.

Mayor Moe Hamdon said that many who have conflicts between rigid Drayton Valley and Brazeau County in the past were as a consequence of planning problems. The IDP is another step in correcting this.
