Children in Cary build greenhouse to help grow food for the community
An essay to help a community eat better began with a community effort to facilitate kids with a project at their private daycare center.
For the last year, folks in the Cary, Apex and Morrisville areas have been collecting two-liter fake bottles to help kids with a project at the Bright Horizons Clubhouse in Cary.
Those bottles will be adapted to to help grow food that will then be shared with the community who collected the bottles.
The 1,500 bottles -- stacked on eight-foot protracted poles -- are going to help plants and kids plant.
"So often with children it's all about 'me and my own little world,'" explained Robin Sarine, president of the Bright Horizons Clubhouse in Cary. "Projects like this assistance them understand how we can give back to the community and be bigger than ourselves."
To accomplish that giveback, the kids are erection a greenhouse using the recycled bottles.
"I think it's really cool we're talented to help make the greenhouse out of plastic soda bottles," said Megan Rossi, one of the kids serving to assemble the project.
