The community of Coronado was incorporated in 1890 and in one holiday destination for the most popular in the U.S. mutual. Also known as Coronado Island, the city is located in the County of San Diego and is surrounded by tons Pacific and the Bay of San Diego. City land area covers about eight miles to four sides with over 24 square miles of water. Initially, Coronado was separated from the North Atoll, which was occupied by the U.S. Naval Air Station. During World War II, the water channel known as the Spanish Bight was filled and easier access to the stretch.In 1969, the Coronado Bridge was opened, allowing faster go to the community. Coronado is Spanish for "crown" and is nicknamed the Show Crown.

One of the most famous structures in Coronado is the Hotel del Coronado, which was built in 1888 and is listed on the roster of National Historic Landmarks. Over the years, in addition to being the end of a holiday trip to the hotel has welcomed guests such as Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth, and many of our presidents over the years.
